Celebrating the Contribution to EU Global Diaspora Facility (EUDiF) with ICMPD

I’m delighted to share that the EU-funded initiative project for which's initiative I worked for has come to a closure with great results for the diaspora institutions involved in it. It was a great collaboration to enhance the change of external engagement of diaspora members to advance knowledge transfer related to circular economy and sustainability. Moreover, t involved creating the methodology for external engagement aimed at attracting a very target individuals (for example from specific academic backgrounds) to feed the knowledge transfer mechanisms and this empower the diaspora to build capacities in the home country as well.

The project was coordinated by EUDiF (EU Global Diaspora Facility) and implemented by ICMPD

EUDiF is a pioneering EU-funded initiative (Phase I: 2019–2024; Phase II: 2024–2027) that builds capacity among public institutions and diaspora organizations, fostering inclusive, effective diaspora-development ecosystems across more than 110 countries (icmpd.org). Through 16 technical support actions and deep knowledge-sharing, EUDiF empowers diasporas to contribute meaningfully in areas like climate action, skills transfer, entrepreneurship, and youth engagement (diasporafordevelopment.eu).

My role and contribution

  • Supported the design and delivery of capacity-building workshops aimed at enhancing diaspora institutions’ strategic planning and impact measurement.

  • Engaged in stakeholder dialogue, linking diaspora professionals with public-sector actors and private-sector partners across Europe and diaspora-origin countries.

  • Helped produce knowledge products, including regional overviews, case studies, and thematic toolkits, to promote evidence-driven diaspora engagement (diasporafordevelopment.eu, icmpd.org).

Why this matters

  • It strengthens the connection between diaspora communities and development outcomes in their countries of origin.

  • It builds local institutional capacity for mobilizing diaspora expertise and resources.

  • It provides tangible, replicable models for diaspora-led development initiatives.

Finally, I was very touched by the detail of extending the two consultants that were appointed for this project a Certificate of Recognition, directly issued by the prominent diaspora organisation Red Global Mexico, in its United Kingdom chapter in my case from for my work supporting the project’s mission to strengthen diaspora engagement for sustainable development.

The certificate is a heartfelt acknowledgement of EUDiF’s collective impact—and a testament to the inspiring collaboration among diaspora actors, governments, and partners via ICMPD.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this exciting journey!

I look forward to continuing this work in the future phase, fostering sustainable, diaspora-led solutions that support inclusive growth and development worldwide.
